FREE Childcare!

What is Nursery Education Funding (NEF)?

A free part-time nursery education place is available for all 3 and 4 year old children whose parents want one.  NEF is an alternative for parents who do not wish to access a free part-time nursery education place at a Council Maintained Nursery or Reception class.

When will my child be able to access Nursery Education Funding?

Children can access NEF the term after their third birthday.  It is available for up to six terms before they reach statutory school age, which is the term after their fifth birthday.

How many hours is my child entitled to?

Currently, every child is entitled to receive up to 15 free hours per week for a maximum of 38 weeks per year.  This is currently broken down into 2 and a half hour sessions; therefore the maximum number of sessions that can be claimed in a week is five.

How do I claim NEF?

It is your nursery provider's responsibility to claim NEF on your behalf , and they will be aware when your child is eligible for funding.

Please contact Creche Leader, Jill Craig on 01977 610931 for further details and availability.
